Day 1: Called to Be A Prophet

READ

I am a man of unclean lips, living among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts!” Then one of the seraphim flew to me, holding an ember which he had taken with tongs from the altar. He touched my mouth with it. “See,” he said, “now that this has touched your lips, your wickedness is removed, your sin purged.” Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?” “Here I am,” I said; “send me!”

Isaiah 6: 5–8

ASK

Lord Jesus, help me to know my sins and to confess them. Give me the grace to be convicted by the Baptism I have received. Help me to remain in the state of grace, so that the Gospel may remain always in my heart and be ready on my lips.

PRAY

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, As it was in the beginning, and now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

READ

Then Jesus approached and said to them, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”

Matthew 28:18–20

DAY 3: Open The Ears of Those Who Hear the Gospel

READ

When they heard about resurrection of the dead, some began to scoff, but others said, “We should like to hear you on this some other time.” And so Paul left them. But some did join him, and became believers. Among them were Dionysius, a member of the Court of the Areopagus, a woman named Damaris, and others with them.

Acts 17:32-34)

ASK

Lord Jesus, give me the grace to enter my home, work, or school and the places my feet daily take me with Your Gospel on my heart. Give grace to those who hear me speak Your message of truth, of life abundant and life eternal. Open their hearts to receive what their ears have heard, that they may find friendship with You.

Day 4: Encourage the Hearts of Those Longing for The Gospel

READ

He came to Nazareth, where he had grown up, and went according to his custom into the synagogue on the Sabbath day. He stood up to read and was handed a scroll of the prophet Isaiah. He unrolled the scroll and found the passage where it was written: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.”

Luke 4:16–19

ASK

Lord Jesus, give me the grace to listen for the poor of spirit, those held captive by sin, those blinded by the spirit of the world, those oppressed by the burdens of life, those longing for a time of jubilee and restoration. Give me the grace to speak words of comfort and truth with courage. Help me to witness with my deeds the presence of Your Spirit resting upon me.

Amen.

Day 5: Call Back Those Who Reject The Gospel

READ

Then many of his disciples who were listening said, “This saying is hard; who can accept it?” Since Jesus knew that his disciples were murmuring about this, he said to them, “Does this shock you? What if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before? It is the spirit that gives life, while the flesh is of no avail. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and life. But there are some of you who do not believe.” … As a result of this, many [of] his disciples returned to their former way of life and no longer accompanied him.

John 6:60-64; 66

ASK

Lord Jesus, so many have heard the truth and yet have turned from it. Give me the grace to share your sorrow for those who have rejected the Gospel. Give me the grace to intercede for the souls that are broken, angry, disillusioned, or tepid because of my actions or those of the imperfect souls within the Church. Give me the grace to give good witness to Your Eternal Truth that I may move the hearts of those who have traveled far from You to return.

Amen.

Day 6: Kindle Into Flame Our Clergy

READ

But how can they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how can they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone to preach? And how can people preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring [the] good news!” But not everyone has heeded the good news; for Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed what was heard from us?” Thus faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the word of Christ.

Romans 10:14-17

ASK

Lord Jesus, you have raised up bishops, priests, and deacons to be heralds of your Gospel. Give them the grace always to bring the good news, especially when it challenges the spirit of this age,  and the integrity to live what they themselves have heard. Give me the grace to love my bishop, the priests who care for my soul, and the deacons who give aid to those in need.

Amen.

Day 7: Raise Up Heralds of Your Gospel

READ

He said to them, “The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest. Go on your way; behold, I am sending you like lambs among wolves. Carry no money bag, no sack, no sandals; and greet no one along the way. Into whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this household.’ If a peaceful person lives there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you.

Luke 10:2–6

ASK

Lord Jesus, give me the grace to hold in prayer those whom You are calling to the sacred order of the priesthood and diaconate. Give grace to men and women whom You call to witness The Gospel in consecrated religious life. Give me the grace to discern rightly my own vocation in baptism. Give grace to those who resist the call to respond in trust.

Amen.

Day 8: Strengthen Those Who Broadcast The Truth

READ

I gave them your word, and the world hated them, because they do not belong to the world any more than I belong to the world. I do not ask that you take them out of the world but that you keep them from the evil one. They do not belong to the world any more than I belong to the world. Consecrate them in the truth. Your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, so I sent them into the world. And I consecrate myself for them, so that they also may be consecrated in truth. “I pray not only for them, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, so that they may all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us, that the world may believe that you sent me.

John 17:14–21

ASK

Lord Jesus, Give grace to those who take up the pen, the camera, the microphone, or the computer. Give them integrity of heart and mind, that the words they communicate be a reflection of You who are The Eternal Word. Renew the consecration in the truth you once asked the Father for those who believe in You. Give grace to report the truth, to report with joy, and to say those things which will help souls come closer to salvation. Give the graces of temperance and fortitude to those whose jobs place them at odds with The Gospel. Bring about, O Lord, the unity for which you prayed in those who are entrusted with social communication.

Amen.

Day 9: Strengthen The Apostolates That Communicate The Gospel

READ

Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes in me will do the works that I do, and will do greater ones than these, because I am going to the Father. And whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it.

John 14:12–14

ASK

Lord Jesus, give the graces needed to strengthen and increase those apostolates that transmit the Gospel message. Expand their reach, invigorate their zeal, and grant new ardor to their efforts. Give the graces needed to sustain them and multiply them according to Your Holy Will. Raise up O Lord, souls to help these apostolates consecrated to You. Grant those organizations who work for the spread of the gospel the resources necessary to do great things, not for their own sake, but only to magnify Your Name. Entrust your Holy Mother to these apostolates, O Lord, that she may guide them and present them to You.

Amen.
