Feminine Genius: Who Me?
How does the Catholic Church view feminism? Who does Jesus say I am as a woman? At Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 501 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington on Monday, July 22, 7:00 pm, come hear how one woman wrestled with these questions as a working professional in the women’s movement and found surprising answers in the writings of Pope John Paul II.
You might arrive in cute shoes, but you will leave in combat boots! Come hear Janice Charbonnet’s journey from skepticism to true empowerment in the Holy Spirit. A wine and cheese social prior to the talk begins at 6:30 pm. For additional information see www.mhtcc.net or call (985)892-0642.
Janice Charbonnet was born and raised in Canada. She studied at Mount Saint Vincent University in Nova Scotia and earned a degree in public relations. She worked in various positions across the country, ending with a position as public relations coordinator for a politician with a cabinet position. In 1996 she felt called to quit her job and serve as a missionary with NET Ministries, traveling with a team across the United States leading evangelization retreats for teenagers. That was where she met her husband, Jean, and they continued to work with NET Ministries together, this time in their Canadian office. They moved to Mandeville in 2008 to be closer to Jean's family. Janice and Jean have 5 children ranging in age from 18 to 5. She serves on the women's team for CCRNO (Catholic Charismatic Renewal of New Orleans). She and her husband are speakers for Willwoods marriage retreats and also facilitate a program teaching married couples how to pray together.
