Friends of the Poor® Walk - Society of St. Vincent de Paul

Location: City Park Reunion Shelter and Festival Grounds

Event Information: You are invited to join The New Orleans Society of St. Vincent de Paul South Shore and West Bank Conferences as they host the 12th annual Friends of the Poor® Walk/Run on Saturday, September 28, 2019. We are grateful that The Most Reverend Archbishop Emeritus Alfred Hughes has again accepted the invitation to participate as our “Celebrity Server”.

The FOP® Walk is a national event held to raise awareness of poverty in the community, while raising funds for local St. Vincent de Paul Conferences and Councils who provide direct, emergent aid to the working poor and needy in the greater New Orleans Region. Donations are used to provide food, shelter, utility bill payments, rental assistance, and other urgent services.

Free, online pre-registration is preferred and may be completed at > Louisiana> New Orleans South Shore & West Bank> Register to Walk> Choose beneficiary (search for your preferred parish conference or youth group in Arch. of New Orleans). Online registration will allow choice of t-shirt size and provide a link to share with others to donate on your behalf.
Onsite registration and check in begins at 8:15 am. The walk begins at 9:15 on the scenic one- mile walking track among the City Park oaks, followed by after party with music, food and drinks, games, and face painting. Shuttle from the parking lot across from Café du Monde to Reunion Shelter with available pickup 8:00, 8:20, 8:40, and return 11:00, 11:20, 11:40.
